Obadiah 1

February 08, 2012

Obadiah 1:3 - "Your pride has fooled you." You think you are safe. You think you are in control. You think "no one can bring me down..." But God says, "I will bring you down from there... you will be ruined." (Obadiah 1:4–5) You did violence to your relatives so you will be covered in shame. You stood aside and watched while my people were being attacked and did nothing to stop it. Not only did you do nothing, you saw their misfortune as a way to profit yourself. You brag about what is being done to them. You laugh at them. You took their things. You violated them. You turned them over to their enemies. You tried to block their escape. And God says:
"The same evil things you did to other people will happen to you; they will come back on your own head." Obadiah 1:15
Psalm 140:9 - Let the heads of those who surround me be covered with the trouble their lips have caused.  (Her Name Was Jane)

Obadiah 1:17 - "The people of Jacob will take back their land from those who took it from them."

God always protects and takes care of His children. With God on their side, His children are never underdogs. ~ From Life Lesson

Key Themes from Obadiah:
  • God will stand up for His people against their enemies
  • There will be judgment for those who take a stand against God's work and people
  • God's word is true and will come about.
