I just have to write a little bit more about what I wrote about yesterday. It just keeps resonating in my soul. I've read the story about the wheat and weeds found in Matthew 13:24–30; 36–43 many times throughout my life. But, never have I thought about this passage the way Scofield explains it in Jane's KJV. I've always just thought of the wheat as believers and the weeds as unbelievers. That simple. But—it is not that simple. I wish it were.
This story isn't about the "haves" and the "have not's" of the world. This is about the "Church", the kingdom of heaven. The "good seed" represents true believers. The "weeds" are sown by the Enemy (Satan) and are a product of (child of) the evil one. The "weeds" aren't unbelievers, they are religious unbelievers. Those two words seem incompatible. Religious—and—unbelievers.
We've all heard the term hypocrite but "religious unbelievers" is a new term for me. Deceived by Satan. Sown by Satan. Religious—but—unbelievers. From outward appearances they appear to be "real" believers. But in reality, they are religious unbelievers who are sown by Satan and used by Satan to create division, havoc, and harm. The Pharisees are a prime example. The church today has many religious unbelievers. They "do" church; they know the words to say; they put on outward appearances; but they have not had a heart change or a new way of thinking (Ezekiel 36:26–28); they are actually weeds; sown for discord, and used for harm.
And Jesus says in Matthew 13:41–42 - "The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all who cause (my emphasis) sin and all who do evil. The angels will throw them into the blazing furnace, where the people will cry and grind their teeth with pain."
