Jesus walks on the water.
Immediately after feeding the five thousand Jesus sent His disciples and the crowd away and He spent a considerable amount of time alone with God. It was probably between three and six in the morning when Jesus walked out to the boat where the disciples were. It was storming. The wind was blowing. The waves were huge. It was the middle of the night. The disciples are frightened and they see a figure walking towards them. They think it is a ghost Jesus says to them, "Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid." (Matthew 14:27–29) Peter said, "Lord, if it is really you, then let me come to you on the water." Jesus said, "Come."
Peter began to walk on the water towards Jesus. But when he looked around and saw the waves, and heard the wind, he became afraid and began to sink. He shouted, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out, took his hand, and saved him. Jesus said, "Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?" (Matthew 14:31) When they got into the boat the winds calmed, and all those who were in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, "Truly you are the Son of God."

Some observations:
- There will be storms in our lives
- If we look at our circumstances fear will come
- When we remain focused on Christ we don't see the circumstances
- People watch to see how we respond to our circumstances
- Our actions and reactions should point people to Jesus—only He is worthy of glory, honor, and praise
- Only Jesus has the power to calm the storms in our lives
- We must keep our eyes focused on Him and Him alone
"As long as Jesus is one of many options, he is no option. As long as you can carry your burdens alone, you don't need a burden bearer. As long as your situation brings you no grief, you will receive no comfort. And as long as you can take him or leave him, you might as well leave him, because he won't be taken half-heartedly." ~ From The Applause of Heaven by Max Lucado.
