Psalm 72:1–20

April 6, 2011

If I thought my heart was overflowing yesterday, it is doubly (is that a word?) so today. I feel as if a bright light is starting to illuminate the way. The curtains are being opened and we are being shown what it is God wants us to do. A thread woven throughout our lives is now starting to make sense. I will tell of your goodness. I will sing for joy because of all you have done.

Psalm 72 is a prayer for the king. The prayer was for good judgment, goodness, fairness, peace, salvation for the needy, respect, encouragement, fruitful, empathy, multiplying, and blessings (for himself and others).

LORD, I ask these same things to be present in my life for however many years I have left. Lord, may I have good judgment. May my goodness be apparent to all around me. May I be fair to all and live peacefully and extend peace. May my life and testimony bring people to salvation. May I show respect and be respected. May I be an encouragement to others. May I be fruitful and multiply, all for the purpose of bringing others to Christ. May I have continued empathy for the lost and others around me. LORD – Please bless me, and may my life be a blessing to others.

Psalm 72:18–19 - "Praise the LORD God, God of Israel, who alone does such miracles. Praise his glorious name forever. Let his glory fill the whole world." Amen and Amen.
