7 When you were in trouble you called, and I saved you. 10 Open your mouth and I will feed you.
This is what God wanted from the Israelites and us—total submission. When He has our submission THEN He takes care of us. Another example of an IF—THEN in the Bible. Chapter 80 speaks about Israel being planted like a vine in a land that was cleared for them. They multiplied and should have been productive.
Psalm 81:11 - "But my people would not listen to me; (they) would not submit to me. 12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own desires."
Hosea 9:7 – 10:4 - "God will reject them, because they have not obeyed him... Israel is like a large vine that produced plenty of fruit. As the people became richer, they built more altars for idols. As their land became better, they put up better stone pillars to honor gods. Their heart was false, and now they must pay for their guilt. The LORD will break down their altars; he will destroy their holy stone pillars... they make many false promises and agreements which they don't keep. So people sue each other in court; they are like poisonous weeds growing in a plowed field."
They go from being a vine, planted by God for the purpose of being productive, to becoming like a "poisonous weed in a plowed field." All because of their disobedience. "So I gave them over..."
Step aside. Accountability is going to happen.
