Leviticus 21:1 – 22:33

February 23, 2010

The rules continue. Sometimes we can get lost in the rules and miss the big picture. God says, "I am the LORD" thirteen times in these two chapters. We have to understand that he is THE LORD. HE is God—we are not. Sounds so simple. Yet every sin, every failure in our walk with Christ, stems from us either not understanding that principle—OR—understanding but refusing to accept and surrender to God as THE LORD.

Everything—everything hinges on understanding, accepting, and embracing that Truth. God did not make a mistake when He made "no other gods" the first commandment. Our lives—our entire lives—must be placed under His LORDship before we can become holy and experience God.

Leviticus 22:31 - "Remember my commands, and obey them; I am the LORD." That's why all the commands. He wanted the Israelites to "get it." He is God; He is in control; and He will decide how things are done.

We need to "get it" too. We cannot see a holy God when our eyes are on ourselves. If our hearts aren't obedient then our actions won't be. We cannot see a "holy God" when we haven't first learned to submit everything to Him. Thou shalt have no other gods. He is God—we are man.

Psalm 8:4 - "Who is man that you are mindful of him..."
