God continued to give the Israelites explicit and thorough instructions on everything from food to skin diseases, mildew, etc. He left nothing out.
God is a God of details. His "rules" kept the Israelites safe and protected. Without them disease and destruction could have ran rampant throughout the camp. They literally could have been destroyed from the inside out.
God's rules for us are for our safety and protections as well. In the Old Testament He gave us the Ten Commandments. In the New Testament we have Jesus' own words to guide us. IF we refuse to listen, refuse to surrender, and refuse to obey, THEN we are allowing sin in our lives—and literally—we become destroyed, from the inside out.
Titus 1:15–16 - "To those who are pure, all things are pure, but to those who are full of sin and do not believe, nothing is pure. Both their minds and their consciences have been ruined. They say they know God, but their actions show they do not accept him. They are hateful people, they refuse to obey, and they are useless for doing anything good."
