Psalm 14:1 – 15:5

February 21, 2011

LORD, who may live with you?
  • Those who are innocent
  • Those who do what is right
  • Those who speak truth
  • He who does not lie
  • Those who do not wrong neighbors/friends/family
  • Those who cast no slur on his fellow man
  • Those who don't respect hateful and vile people
  • Those who respect and honor those who honor God
  • People who keep their promises even if it hurts
  • People who lend money without usury
  • People who do not take money to hurt the innocent
Whoever does all these things will never be shaken.

If that is true—and I believe ALL scripture is God-breathed and true—then the reverse of that list and result would also be true. People who practice lies, deceit, trickery, usury, use falsehoods to get what they want, people who break their promises, people who try to hurt the innocent, whoever does these things will be shaken (NIV) and destroyed (NCV).

Psalm 14:1 - The fool says, "No God for ME" (Jane's (Her Name Was Jane) KJV) the rebellion against authority.

Psalm 14:4-6 - "Don't the wicked understand? They destroy my people as if they were eating a piece of bread. They do not ask the Lord for help. But the wicked are filled with terror, because God is with those who do what is right. The wicked upset the plans of the poor, but the "I AM" will protect them." Victory comes from the LORD.

How to live a Righteous Life ~

Daniel 4:27 - "...stop sinning and do what is right. Stop doing wicked things and be kind to the poor..."
Hosea 10:12 - "...plant goodness... harvest the fruit of loyalty from God."
Ephesians 6:14 - "...so stand strong, with the belt of truth tied around your waist and the protection of right living on your chest."
Philippians 1:9–11 - "This is my prayer for you: that your love will grow more and more; that you will have knowledge and understanding with your love; that you will see the difference between good and bad and you will choose the good; that you will be pure and without wrong for the coming of Christ; that you will do many good things with the help of Christ to bring glory and praise to God."
I Timothy 6:10–11 - Verse 10 - "...the love of money causes all kinds of evil. Some people have left the faith because they wanted to get more money, but they have caused themselves much sorrow. "  Verse 11 - "...run away from all those things. Instead, live in the right way, serve God, have faith, love, patience, and gentleness."
II Peter 3:11 - "You should live holy lives and serve God."

Addendum:  2/5/15 ~  "Evil, wickedness, and deceit define how a world without God behaves." A quote from the Life Lesson for these chapters. When you hear the news headlines of the horror of ISIS and their actions (beheadings, burning people alive, kidnapping young children and turning them into sex slaves and forcing them to be suicide bombers, etc.) you realize you are seeing a visual of how the world behaves without God. It's not just ISIS and it's not just in other countries. It is everywhere. It is in our own country.
