Reading Psalm 7 and Psalm 8 was my husband's "aha" moment. It was January, '09. After reading these chapter's my husband said, "I finally get it LORD. I will trust you completely... no matter what." Amazing day. We literally watched all this happen. (See explanation in Addendum.)
Psalm 7:1–2 - God, we trust in you for our protection. Save us, rescue us or we will be torn apart.
Psalm 7:3–5 - LORD, what have we done? If we have done wrong then find us guilty and destroy us.
Psalm 7:6–9 - LORD, rise up in your anger and stand against our enemies anger. Get up and demand fairness. God defend me. You know we have done no wrong. God, you do what is right. You know our thoughts and feelings. Stop the wicked actions done by evil people. NIV - bring to an end the violence of the wicked. Help those who do right.
Psalm 7:10–13 - God protects like a shield. KJV - my defense is of God, which saveth the upright. God judges by what is right. God is always ready to punish the wicked. If they don't change their ways, God sharpens his sword, his bow is ready, he has prepared his flaming arrows and deadly weapons.
Psalm 7:14–16 - There are people who think up evil, plan trouble and tell lies. They dig holes to trap others but they fall into it themselves. The violence they meant for others happens to them. NIV - "He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment."
Psalm 7:17 - I praise the LORD. He does what is right. I sing praises to the LORD Most High.
Addendum: Today is January 5, 2015, eight years to the day from when I first met Jane E. Wolfe (Her Name Was Jane). And on this very special day, the exact anniversary of that first extraordinary meeting with Jane, I am transcribing my journal entries for Psalm 7 & 8 (written in early 2011) which chronicles the very special God-is-in-control life changing events of January '09.

God's timing continues to surprise and astound me. These are not coincidences, they are God-incidences. It is yet another reminder that HE IS IN CONTROL.
Let me explain now what I didn't think I should put into writing back in 2011.
It's January, 2009. Two years had passed since the hidden truths and motives behind my sister and brother-in-law's actions began to come to light. We had been stuck in the mire and the ugliness of the lawsuit for one and a half years. My husband and I were at a hotel in Indianapolis preparing for my sister and brother-in-law's video depositions. It was going to be a very long and difficult day.
After my husband and I had gotten up and were ready to face the day, we sat on the side of the bed to have our morning devotions. I opened my Bible to where I had finished reading the day before. I didn't just pick some random spot to read. This literally was the next section for me to read as I continued my journey of reading through the Bible. Psalm 7 and Psalm 8. I began to read out loud.

Psalm 7
A Prayer for Fairness
LORD my God, I trust in you for protection.Save me and rescue mefrom those who are chasing me.Otherwise, like a lion they will tear me apart. They will rip me to pieces, and no one can save me.LORD my God, what have I done?Have my hands done something wrong?Have I done wrong to my friendor stolen without reason from my enemy? If I have, let my enemy chase me and capture me.Let him trample me into the dustand bury me in the ground.LORD, rise up in your anger;stand up against my enemies' anger.Get up and demand fairness.Gather the nations around youand rule them from above.LORD, judge the people.LORD, defend me because I am right, because I have done no wrong, God Most High.God, you do what is right. You know our thoughts and feeling.Stop those wicked actions done by evil people, and help those who do what is right.God protects me like a shield;he saves those whose hearts are right.God judges by what is right, and God is always ready to punish the wicked. If they do not change their lives,God will sharpen his sword;he will string his bow and take aim.He has prepared his deadly weapons;he has made his flaming arrows. There are people who think up eviland plan trouble and tell lies. They dig a hole to trap others, but they will fall into it themselves. They will get themselves into trouble;the violence they cause will hurt only themselves.I praise the LORD because he does what is right.I sing praises to the LORD Most High.
By now tears were flowing down our cheeks. This Psalm spoke directly to our hearts. We were caught up in a vicious attack and this Psalm exactly described the circumstances of our situation, our thoughts, and our prayers and feelings. The words of Psalm 7 mirrored many of the words from Psalm 140, one of the chapters Jane told us to read shortly after we found a lawsuit had been filed. And here again was another reference to the force of a lion, right at the exact time we summoned every ounce of courage we had and made one of the most difficult decisions of our lives. (Read my entry for Job 4:1 – 7:21.)
Psalm 7 is a Prayer for Fairness. From the outside looking in, we appeared to be the victims of a very vile, vicious and ruinous lawsuit. Even though we were innocent, our accusers seemed to be in control of our destiny. The whole legal process seemed unfair. The burden to prove ourselves innocent and to prove our attackers deceit, was on our shoulders. The words, "LORD my God, what have I done?" resonated in our spirits.
But God!! HE protects. HE saves. HE judges by what is right, and HE punishes those who do not change their hearts and lives. HE is a fair and just God. Those who plan evil will fall into their own traps. The trouble they plan for others will end up only hurting themselves. HE is the One who will defend us. HE is the One who will protect us. It is NOT our burden. It is NOT our responsibility to prove ourselves innocent. HE is the One!
God taught us an important lesson that day.
God has proven Himself faithful. We are not the "victims" of a personal attack and vindictive lawsuit. We are the recipients of a Blessed Event. This is NOT our battle! It is God's, and He does not need our help. HE is the One who brings about accountability, and HE is the One who provides protection.
This was just the beginning of what God was showing us. See my next three journal entries:

- HE is in control
- HE knows the truth
- It is not up to us to save ourselves
- HE is the One who will protect us
