Joy and peace can be yours even in the most difficult of situations. It is a gift from God to those who trust Him.
Promises and instructions from God and responses to God:
Psalm 4:4 - When you are angry do not sin.
Psalm 4:5 - Do what is right; trust the LORD.
Psalm 4:8 - Sleep in peace; the LORD keeps you safe.
Psalm 5:3 - Every morning you hear my voice.
Psalm 5:8 - Show me the right thing to do.
Psalm 5:8 - Show me clearly how you want me to live.
Psalm 5:11 - Let everyone who trusts you be happy and sing.
Psalm 5:11 - Protect those who love you. NIV - spread your protection over them
Psalm 5:12 - Bless those who do right.
Psalm 5:12 - Protect them like a soldiers shield.
Psalm 6:9 - The LORD has heard my cry for help.
Psalm 6:9 - The LORD will answer my prayer.
The Psalmist description of the wicked and God's punishment for the wicked:
Psalm 5:4 - You are not pleased with the wicked.
Psalm 5:4 - You do not live with those who do evil.
Psalm 5:5 - NIV - the arrogant, KJV - the foolish, NCV - Those people who make fun of you cannot stand before you.
Psalm 5:5 - You hate all those who do evil.
Psalm 5:6 - You destroy liars and hate those who are blood thirsty and deceitful. NCV - trick others
Psalm 5:9 - They do not tell the truth. NIV - not a word out of their mouth can be trusted.
Psalm 5:9 - In their hearts they want to destroy others.
Psalm 5:9 - Their throats are like graves; their tongues for lies.
Psalm 5:10 - God will judge guilty. Let them fall into their own traps.
Psalm 6:10 - They will be shamed and troubled. They will leave in shame.
Addendum: 1/14/15 ~ What a contrast. Peace, protection, blessings, confidence, safety, and happiness is yours when you trust in the LORD. Lies, destruction, shame, trouble, separation, and judged guilty are the descriptive words used to describe the wicked and God's punishment. The choice should be clear. It is so obvious. Why then do some people refuse to change their hearts and lives? What causes someone to stubbornly continue down the path to destruction? I know the answer, but I still don't understand.
