Psalm 137:1 – 138:8

June 1, 2011

"On the day I called to you, you answered me. You made me strong and brave."

January 5, 2007. On that day... on the very day we called out to God for His help He gave us Jane. (Her Name was Jane) The LORD answered on that very day and it was/is His Power, His guidance, His sovereignty, and His love which has allowed us to be "strong and brave" these last four and one half years of dealing with "the storm." Psalm 138:7-8 - "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever."

I don't need to know the details. The hows or whens or even the whys. All I need to know is that "the LORD will fulfill his purpose for me," and that is enough. Psalm 138:6 - "Though the LORD is supreme, he takes care of those who are humble, but he stays away from the proud."

He is enough. His promises are enough. On Christ the solid rock I stand.  He truly is ENOUGH!

Psalm 138:3 -"On the day I called to you, you answered me. You made me strong and brave."

He is more than enough!

Addendum: "January 5, 2007. On that day... on the very day we called out to God for His help He gave us Jane." I just realized something. The song! The song that was running through my mind while I was in the shower preparing to go to the nursing home on that fateful day. The song? "He knows your name, He knows your every thought. He knows each tear that falls and hears you when you call." Jeremiah 29:11–13 - "I know the plans I have for you said the Lord. They are good plans, not plans to harm you but to give you hope and a good future. Then you will call to me, and I will hear you. You will search for me, and when you search for me with all your heart you will find me. I will let you find me...."

When we call out to Him HE ANSWERS!

Addendum: 8/14/20 ~ As I was reading this post this morning, I realized there is another significant verse to add and it is found in Jeremiah 33—the very last God-given message from Jane.
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3
I stand in awe of the great I AM. His glory is beyond anything we can possibly ever imagine. He is faithful beyond our comprehension. My heart is overwhelmed with praise to the King of all kings and LORD of all lords. Thank-you, Jesus!
