Wisdom—verses—Foolishness.

Wisdom begins with respect for the LORD. Understanding begins with knowing the Holy One. Respect and knowing. It's not enough to have head knowledge. Respecting the LORD and knowing the Holy One means you "get it." The

relationship. He is God—I am not. You choose to respect Him and you choose to acknowledge Him as LORD. Total surrender. Total obedience. Total submission. "If you live wisely, you will live a long time; wisdom will add years to your life."

Correct the wise (those who "get it") and they will love you, they will become even wiser, and they will learn even more. But if you try to correct someone who makes fun of wisdom (someone who refuses by their choices to not surrender, obey, or submit), then trouble lies ahead. They will insult you, they will try to hurt you, and they will hate you.

Proverbs 9:12, "The wise person is rewarded by wisdom, but whoever makes fun of wisdom will suffer for it."
Scofield ~ A "fool" in scripture is never a mentally deficient person, but rather one who is arrogant and self-sufficient; one who orders his life as if there were no God. Luke 12:16–20 - the story of the rich man is an example. He was a "fool" not because he was dumb. He was a "fool" because he thought his things—the temporary, were more important than his soul—his eternal well-being.
