Proverbs 21

July 5, 2011

This chapter brings tears to my eyes. Solomon is giving advice to the upright and warnings to the wicked. IF—THEN promises and warnings. A God-honoring lifestyle—brings God's reward. A lifestyle that is selfish, wicked, and does not honor God—brings ruin and destruction.

Life is serious business. Consequences are eternal. We are not on this earth to eat, drink, and be merry. We each have a higher calling, a higher purpose, and it begins with living a life that is God fearing and God honoring.

Solomon doesn't sugar coat anything, he lays it out plain and simple. Here's the facts folks:
  • Everything is in God's hands and He can do as He pleases.
  • You may think you are in control but you are not.
  • You may think you have God/others fooled but you don't. God knows your heart and reasons.
  • You may think that "giving" things to God or going through the motions of living a God honoring life is enough and will get you by. It isn't ... and it won't.
  • Pride and evil actions ARE sin. Plain and simple.
