Proverbs 12:1 – 13:25

June 28, 2011

The contrasts continue.

The LORD is pleased with good people,
but he will punish anyone who plans evil.
A good person has safety and security, (Psalm 1)
doing evil brings no safety (shall not be established)
The plans good people make are fair,
but the advice of the wicked will trick you.
Good people are givers,
     the wicked are takers.

Fools, because of their self-sufficiency "think" they are doing right. They lie in wait; deceit is in their hearts. BUT truth continues forever and lies are only for a moment. The LORD hates those who lie but is pleased with those who keep their promises.

Proverbs 12:28 - "Doing what is right is the way to life, but there is another way that leads to death."

Doing what is right protects the honest person,
but doing evil ruins the sinner.
Good people can look forward to a bright future,
but the future of the wicked is like a flame going out.
Those who obey what they are told will be rewarded,
but those who reject what they are taught will pay for it.
Good people enjoy success,
trouble always comes to sinners. (NIV says "pursues" and Psalm 140 says "hunts down.")

When you really stop and look at the black and white contrasts laid out in the Proverbs, it really is quite amazing and astounding. The choices we make are KEY!
