"The LORD's eyes see everything; he watches both evil and good people." Once again, Jane (Her Name Was Jane) has the cross references of Proverbs 5:21; Job 34:21; Jeremiah 16:17; Jeremiah 32:19; and Hebrews 4:13 marked in her Bible. She also has II Chronicles 16:9 hand-written beside it. There are literally thousands of cross references listed in the center section of Jane's KJV Bible. And yet, other than the reference she has marked for Deuteronomy 32:35 (Romans 12:19 and Hebrews 10:30 which both say, "Vengeance is the LORD's"), the only other times she has anything circled or noted (at least so far) has been this same group of verses—three times. Job 34:21 (1-25-11); Proverbs 5:21 (6-23-11); and now again at Proverbs 15:3. It's worth writing down what each verse says again:
Proverbs 5:21 - The LORD sees everything you do, and he watches where you go.
Job 34:21 - God watches where people go; he sees every step they take.
Jeremiah 16:17 - I see everything they do. They cannot hide from me the things they do; their sin is not hidden from my eyes.
Jeremiah 32:19 - You plan and do great things. You see everything that people do, and you reward people for they way they live and for what they do.
Hebrews 4:13 - Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived.
The LORD knows. Nothing is hidden from Him. He sees. Our accountability consequences is His prerogative. Vengeance is the LORD's.
Three times in this chapter Solomon lists things that are an abomination to the LORD (KJV); is detested by God (NIV); or is what the LORD hates (NCV).
1) The LORD hates the sacrifices the wicked offer. (Verse 8)
2) The LORD hates what evil people do. (Verse 9)
3) The LORD hates evil thoughts. (Verse 26)
Hates. God hates it when people live their lives contrary to His clear instructions and yet "act" like they are a follower of His and bring "offerings/sacrifices" to the God they are refusing to surrender their lives to. What a slap in God's face. In essence you are saying, I'm going to do what I want to do, when I want to do it in total disregard to you God, but then I'm going to make it appear (to myself and others) that I am someone different than I really am. No wonder God hates that. Stand up and be honest!! If you are not going to live a surrendered life and you think that is OK—then proudly defy God. Don't say one thing and do another. If you are so sure it is OK to defy God privately—then do so publicly. Who do you think you are fooling? Man? Why care what man thinks? God? You're not fooling him. He already knows, and that is why He hates it.
In contrast:
1) God likes the prayers of honest people.
2) He loves those who do right.
3) He is pleased with kind words.
Proverbs 15:29 - The LORD does not listen to the wicked, but he hears the prayers of those who do right.
Proverbs 15:10 (NIV) - "Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path." I was going to stop there and not finish the verse. I don't like the rest. But whether I like it or not, it is the truth. It is God's words. The rest of the verse is this, "He who hates correction will die." Another IF—THEN. The NCV says it this way, "The person who quits doing what is right will be punished, and the one who hates to be corrected will die." Strong words. True words.
Romans 6:23 - "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life."
When Jesus died on the cross His death conquered death. Death no longer holds any power because His death brought eternal life to ALL who surrender and accept Him as their Savior. But the same cannot be said for those who have rejected him as the Lamb of God. Death is only conquered IF or WHEN you surrender and accept Him as you personal Savior and Lord. For the person who refuses, death still holds its sting and the soul dies an eternal death apart from Christ.
Spiritual death is an inconvenient truth. We don't like to think about it, but that doesn't make it any less true. "Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path. He who hates correction will die." Only you can make the choice. Choose you this day whom ye will serve. You cannot serve two masters. Either God is God—or He isn't. I have made my choice. As for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.
Proverbs 15:27 - "Greedy people bring trouble to their families, but the person who cannot be paid to do wrong will live."
Proverbs 15:33 - "Respect for the LORD will teach you wisdom. If you want to be honored, you must be humble."
