Isaiah 13:1 – 21:17

July 27, 2011

These chapters include God's message to Babylon, Assyria, Moab, Philistia, Aram, Cush, Egypt, etc.  All of His messages boil down to this: God's will WILL be done.

Isaiah 14:24 and 27 - "The LORD All-Powerful has made this promise: These things will happen exactly as I planned them; they will happen exactly as I set them up. When the LORD All-Powerful makes a plan, no one can stop it. When the LORD raises his hand to punish people, no one can stop it."

Isaiah 13:11 - "The LORD says, "I will punish the world for its evil and wicked people for their sins. I will cause proud people to lose their pride, and I will destroy the pride of those who are cruel to others."

Isaiah 16:5 - "He will judge fairly and do what is right."

Isaiah 17:13–14 - "The people roar like the waves, but when God speaks harshly to them, they will run away. They will be like chaff on the hills being blown by the wind, or like tumbleweeds blown away by a storm. At night the people will be very frightened. Before morning, no one will be left. So our enemies will come to our land, but they will become nothing."

Isaiah 19:20–22 - "When the people cry to the LORD for help, he will send someone to save and defend them. He will rescue them from those who hurt them... then they will know he is the LORD. They will worship God... they will make promises to the LORD and will keep them. They will come back to the LORD, and he will listen to their prayers and heal them."

The "I will" of man—verses—the "I will" of God.

In Chapter 14 Isaiah quotes what Lucifer (KJV) in his pride declared:
  • I will go up to heaven
  • I will put my throne above God's star
  • I will sit on the mountain of the gods
  • I will go up above the clouds
  • I will be like the God most high
The "I will" statements of Satan are the same as the "I will" statements of man. Satan's pride and refusal to accept THE God as his authority is what led to his fall. Man's pride and refusal to submit and surrender to the authority of God is what leads to man's fall. There is no victory in the "I will" of man. No lasting victory. Temporary earthly victories? Maybe. Eternally? No.

And then the "I will" statements of God. A promise that cannot be broken. Past tense. Guaranteed. Written in stone. When God says "I will"—He does. There is no power that can stand against Him.  No authority He has to bow to. None. He is the LORD All-Powerful. He has surpassing greatness. (Psalm 150) He is God. From before time began He was on his throne. He is God alone. Unchangeable. Unshakable. Unstoppable. That is who HE is.

You Are God Alone - By Phillips, Craig, and Dean

Satan/Man's "I will"—A chasing after the wind.
God's "I will"—Eternal life.
