You read these two chapters and you just want to do side-kicks and shout Hallelujah. God is supreme. His help is coming. Only the LORD can save us. Wait on Him. All will know it was God.
Isaiah 40:5 - "Then the glory of the LORD will be shown, and all people together will see it. The LORD himself said these things." Other things will pass away, but the "word of our God will live forever." "You have good news to tell... you have good news to tell. Shout out loud the good news. Shout it out and don't be afraid. "Here is your God." Look, the LORD God is coming with his power... he will bring reward... he gathers them... he carries them... he gently leads them."
Who? Who has measured the ocean? Who has measured the sky? Who has measured the dust? Who has measured the mountains? Who knows God's mind? Who has He had to ask for help? Who taught Him wisdom and understanding? Can you compare anything to God? Can you compare God to anything? Surely you know! Surely you have heard! "Can you compare me (God) to anyone? Is anyone equal to me?" Who created the stars? Who knows them by name? Why would you think the LORD doesn't know what happens to you? Why would you think He doesn't care? Surely you know. Surely you have heard! (NIV - "Do you not know? Have you not heard?") The LORD is the God who lives forever! He is the ONE! He created the world. He doesn't tire or need rest. He does not lack wisdom. He is the One who gives strength to those who are tired. He is the One who gives power to the weak.
Isaiah 40:31 - "But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not be faint." The KJV says, "Those that wait on the LORD..." That is the key—wait/hope in the LORD. When you do that: you will soar; you will run; and you will walk and not be faint.
If you had told us four and one half years ago:
Only God. Only God.

If you had told us four and one half years ago:
IT is going to happen; "the storm" will last over four and one half years (and counting); it will consume an incredible amount of time; but even though all of that is going on, you will sleep like a baby; you will be happy and content; you will be blessed and you will be a blessing to others; you will have great family times; you will be closer as a couple and family than ever before; you will have all the strength you need; and you will run and not be weary.I would have thought you were nuts. There is no way that is possible—without God. I don't think I would have thought it possible with God. But, God's Word is true. When our hope is in Him, and when we wait on the LORD's help, He does give you strength. He does sustain you. He does carry you. Do I hate the situation? Absolutely. Is this whole thing just plain wrong? Yes. But, God has done all He's promised. When I look back over the years I wonder—how did we survive and do all that we did?
Only God. Only God.
