Another song we sang on Sunday was, "LORD, look upon my need, I need you, I need you. LORD, have mercy now on me..." I'm not sure of the rest of the words and I'm not by the computer to look them up, but just another example of how God provides and how he blesses when we are obedient to Him. There is just no way all the things that have happened these last 4 1/2 years could just be coincidental or happenstance. God is in control. His promises are true.
Side Note:
We had our 1st annual Nanna Camp this week. What a great time. We slept in a tent. Went swimming and hiking. Collected sticks, pine needles, etc. and made bird nests. We built blue bird houses. The grand kids helped put up a new Martin house. We read bird stories by flashlight in the tent. They all guessed the theme from their invitations so they each received little binoculars. We hiked at a local Nature Preserve. It was just a great time of fun and lots of memories. Already thinking about what next year's theme will be. 🙂
It's hard to believe, but our three oldest grandchildren will all be in school this year. How can that be? Where has time gone? If they ever read this journal, they will be amazed to see what was happening in Nanna and Pop-Pop's life during almost their entire lives. On one hand, what a colossal waste of time, and energy. But on the other hand, what a remarkable time of faith, joy, and growth. We want to make sure the heritage we are passing down to the generations that follow us is one of love, faith, and courage. Love—for each other and Christ. Faith—in the one true LORD. Courage—to stand strong. No matter what.
Now... back to Isaiah 30. The LORD will help His people. Will! 19 "When he hears you, (hear my cry for mercy), he will help you. He is your teacher... you will see your teacher with your own eyes. If you go the wrong way—to the right or left—you will hear a voice behind you saying, 'This is the way. You should go this way.' " So, in September of '07, Jane (Her Name Was Jane) tells me to read the part about "wait on the LORD again" and immediately after that are these verses. When He hears He will help you. He is your teacher. He will be behind you personally directing you on the words and path to take.
Wow! I just cannot adequately describe how it feels to see the hand of God working in your life. No self effort can ever even remotely compare with the experience of watching God's hand at work in your surrendered life. Just days before my first depostion, a very critical time period, Jane says to read Isaiah 30!! Isaiah 30? Good grief. What seemed like such a random place to read was not random at all. And what seemed like Greek in 2007 does not seem like Greek any longer.
Isaiah continues on and tells how God will bless His people. He will send everything you need; the harvest will be plentiful; God will provide abundance of everything you need. No amount of praise will ever be enough for what God has provided for us our whole lives and especially these last four and a half years. The blessings we have enjoyed are from the LORD alone, and we are grateful.
Addendum: 7/12/16 ~ Last week was our 6th annual Nanna Camp. Quality time spent with our 11, 10, 9, 6, and 3 year old grandchildren—priceless.
Next Entry: Isaiah 28:1 – 31:9 (Continued)
