John 2:1–25

October 16, 2012

Come. See. Believe. Twice in John 1 it says "Come" and "See." "Believe" is the theme throughout the book of John. The best way to believe? Come and see. Reading God's Word. Going to Him in prayer. Purposeful personal devotions. There just is no substitute. When we come we see, we believe, and His glory is revealed to us.
At our new birth God remakes our souls and gives us what we need, again. New eyes so we can see by faith. A new mind so we can have the mind of Christ. New strength so we won't grow tired. A new vision so we won't lose heart. A new voice for praise and new hands for service. And most of all, a new heart. A heart that has been cleansed by Christ." ~ From A Gentle Thunder by Max Lucado
So perfectly said.

Jesus performs His first miracle by turning water to wine. I love how his mother says (my paraphrase) to Him, "There is no wine." And Jesus replies, "Why are you telling me?" And Mary responds back, "Do whatever he tells you to do." She wasn't put off by his answer. "Do whatever he tells you to do." Great advice for us as well. Come! See! Believe! DO! It isn't enough to hear. It isn't enough to see. It isn't enough to know. We must DO! Then His glory is revealed to us and to those around us.

John 2:25 - "He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man." (NIV) God does not need our (man's) help in proving our innocence in the lawsuit my sister and brother-in-law's filed against us. Through the depositions he showed us how "man" could do it. But, we don't believe it will be man. The battle belongs to the Lord. We believe it will be God alone who saves us.
