Preparedness. It is easier to hike the Appalachian Trail, handle stressful times, or face the impossible, if you have a foundation of preparedness. We are so grateful that God used different situations in our lives to teach us what it means to trust in Him and surrender all. It is a constant learning process, but a firm foundation was set. We never realized how important it would be.
Over the past several weeks God has reminded me of how it all began.
Thank you, for the reminder Lord. I am so grateful a firm foundation was set and we had something to build upon. Preparedness is so important!! Luke 23:31 - "If they act like this now when life is good, what will happen when bad times come?"
Don't get caught unprepared. Listen. Learn. Grow.

- I shared our testimony in a letter with some friends who were going through a difficult time. You can read it here: Our Testimony: The Journey So Far. The letter shares how God used different situations in our lives to build a foundation of trust in Him. In writing the letter to encourage someone else, I was reminded afresh the faithfulness of God in our own lives.
- In the process of moving and rearranging furniture (to prepare for painting the loft and living room), I came across our company mission statement. It was written years before we had a website. I tweaked it slightly and added it to our website. The mission statement was a clear reminder of who (and what) our foundation is built upon.
- I also found multiple other personal writings from years past which I had totally forgotten about. A personal study I began on the differences between knowledge and understanding; lessons I prepared on death and dying and how to go on living after a loved one dies; and notes from when I shared those lessons with the family of the woman who originally painted our home and later passed away from Leukemia.
In the busyness of life I had totally forgotten about all these pre-lawsuit writings and studies. God took the ordinary (moving furniture and writing a letter) to remind me of the extra-ordinary (HIS faithfulness throughout our lives).
A firm foundation was in place. God, in His Sovereignty, used earlier circumstances and situations in our lives to prepare us for what He knew was coming. He knew the measure of deceit we were going to face. He knew about the false accusations. He knew. He experienced it all himself. He was taken before Pilate. He was innocent and Pilate could find nothing wrong, but that did not stop his accusers. Luke 23:5 - "They were insisting, saying 'But Jesus makes trouble...' " "But" he did this. "But" he did that. But... but... but. Always trying to find something to accuse Him of. We know what that feels like. In one of my sister and brother-in-law's court filings they actually say they can't prove anything was done wrong, "but it appears" like there may be something. But... but... but. Pure desperation—trying anything and everything to find "something" to accuse us of.
