John 8:1–59

October 25, 2012

John 8 is a chapter of contrasts and choices. We are given a choice of how to live our lives.

Light
  • life
  • belief in Him
  • truth
  • obedience
  • freedom
  • family
  • understanding
  • accepts what God says
  • promotes truth
  • brings honor to God
  • eternal life
  • knows truth
  • forgiving
Contrast those words with the words used to describe darkness.

Darkness
  • death
  • refuse to believe
  • lies
  • disobedience
  • bondage
  • slave
  • deceived
  • refuses to accept
  • against truth
  • wants honor for self
  • eternal death
  • denies truth
  • accusing
"I am the light of the world. The person who follows me will never live in darkness but will have the light that gives life." John 8:12

"If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32

"So if the Son makes you free, you will be truly free." John 8:36
