God wants simple humility. A Pharisee (religious unbeliever) goes into the Temple to pray. He stands and prays, "I thank you that I am not like other people who steal, cheat, or take part in adultery, or even like this tax collector. I give up eating twice a week, and I give one tenth of everything I get!" His prayer was all about himself. I... I.. I.
A tax collector went into pray at the same time. He stands off to the side and would not even look up. He beat his chest because he was so sad. "God, have mercy on me a sinner." He understood the

relationship. The tax collector's prayer was heard by God. The Pharisee's prayer was not.
God is not our servant, nor is He our puppet. He is almighty God. We are the created. The created is never greater than the Creator. Jesus said, "All who make themselves great will be made humble, but all who make themselves humble will be made great." (Luke 18:14)
Life Lesson Observation: "When we pray we must be persistent and humble. Most of all, we can't depend on our own resources to get us through problems. We need to trust God and his strength."
